glow plugs coming on randomly

so lately i will be driving down the road and all of a sudden the "wait to start" light comes on and my voltage gauge goes up and down just like it does when the glow plugs come on. has this happened to anyone else? any ideas? thanks.

Might me the ignition switch. Has anything else been happening like other electrical issues.... Might be the controller or a short too. Check the wires from the fender solenoid to the glow plug controller. Hopefully its not the controller going out. That can kill all the plugs and if they are autolites they may be difficult removing.... Don't allow this problem to continue too long...
