1979 F-350 SuperCab 4x4--has Reagan-era 12-16.5's on it. can someone translate that to a metric 16" size or a 16.5" size I can actually still get?

Yup, look around and I believe you can still get 16.5's.

yep, 16.5's are still around. I'm offloading my Weld's in the next week or so.

12-16.5s are basically a 33x12.50r16.5

The 12-16.5 is the old flotation designation.

Put some 16" wheels from a later model truck on and then you can put the P-metric 16" on them. Never put a 16 on a 16.5 or a 16.5 on a 16 rim.

*bangs head on wall*

That's what I'm trying to do. But I still didn't know what size I needed. However, a 33" metric tire I can do. If my math is right, that'd be a 235/85 or a 265/75R16. Cool.
