I have a 04 GMC Duramax and it has about 5300 miles on it. So I decided to change the fluids in the front axle and the rear differential. I found the rear diff. had only about 41 oz. in it where it should have had 64 oz. The front axle had about 24 oz in it where it should have had 32 oz. I told my GM dealer about this and he gave me a qt. free. Of course I already purchased 6 qts. Also I put in synthetic 75W90 so this was also a little expensive. I would like to know if anyone else has had this problem.

the newer dodges use axles of same manufacture [american axle]. this has been an ongoing problem having trucks come in w/ low pumkin juice. the techs at the stealerships dont check fluids in em anymore either :(

Happens all the time. It's supposed to be checked in the PDI I believe. Never seems to happen. Looks like you've got nothing to worry about now.
