as the states i have a front axle problem, and was wondering if y'all could help out. where the axle shaft goes into the outter knuckle on the passenger side somethings out and i'm not for sure what, because the axle shaft can just flop around. what could have gone bad to make that do that?

The 3rd bearing that the axle rides on as it goes into the spindle is shot.

I will try and dig up a part number.

I had the SAME problem on a D44'd F150.

alright, how would you go about fixing that? do you have to take the hub and everything off to get it? or is there another way to get to it?

You got to pull the tire, caliper, rotor, locking hub, axle lock ring, spindle and then yank the axle out. It sounds like a lot of work, but it's pretty straight forward!

I would assume that because your truck is a super cab, that it has a 50. It very well could have a 44. Crawl under, and look on the side of the pot and see if it has 44 or 50 casted in. You may already know what front end it has under it.

99 SD changes every thing
but the problem is still that bearing, just a different repair procedure

Whoops! I was just goin by the truck in your signature!

I haven't had a new truck apart before, But I think it's something like a newer car's front end. Unit style bearings and nothing like the old school stuff I am running.

You can replace that bearing in a Super Duty unit bearing, I did on my 00. Hope the hub seal that goes in the knuckle behind the bearing is in good shape. Also, hope that the stub axle isn't toasted form floating around like that.

I would assume that the removal procedure is.....outer axle nut, tire, cliper, rotor, bolts holding the unit bearing on and THEN the axle.

That's how I did the wheel bearing on Vicki's car, and I assume that the unit bearings on a new style Ford SD are SIMILAR, maybe not the same.

Someone PLEASE fill me in and do NOT be afraid to correct me!!

on the SD ya pull the lock out hub, then the snap ring, caliper and rotor, undo the abs wire to the inner fender, then 4 nuts on the backside.
pretty simple unless the hub is stuck to the nuckle, then itsa pia
I also pop the tie rod off so I can turn the knuckle by itself.
