on my new-old 86 (courtesy the good 69oiler) I'm trying to figure out if that
1-1/2" or so I have for bump stop clearance is correct. I haven't found any
4x4 f250s of this vintage around to look at that aren't lifted sky-high.

What should I be seeing for clearance up there?

thanks in advance.

Wow! That truck still has a full 1-1/2" ? Consider yourself lucky. LOL Honest to gosh they only had a bout 1" when they were new, yet alone ancient.

Even with a lift, and the bump stop dropped down appropriately, there is still next to nothing.

The new trucks aren't any different. The distance on my 02 Excursion is so miserable that the thing bottoms out endlessly on our roads. It really is my #2 complaint about it, right behind the torque converter.

Thanks all for the replies. Yeah, about 1-1/2" On the side that's downhill when parked sideways on the grade :)

those poly axle bushings help with that. the old rubber ones were trashed and way off center.
