Effect of removing sway bar

I have busted end links on the steering sway bar. Does anyone know what this part is supposed to do or what would happen if I just ditched it? I know they are different between trucks and not all 3/4 and one ton Fords seems to have them. Is there an appropriate fix for this other than finding another one in the junkyard? It is a 3/4 ton with a Dana 50 TTB if it matters.

Are you talking about your 2wd truck? A dana 50 is a 4 wheel drive front axle.

And are you sure its a DANA 50? and not the DANA 44HD?

The sway bar helps to eliminate body roll, if it is just the end links that are broke then go to the parts store and get new ones, they are wear parts and cheap.

I think it is just the end links. Yes this is a 2WD truck so I guess it must be a D44HD

44hd is also a 4x4 frontend. You just have a regular ttb 2wd frontend.

Ok, I thought TTB meant either D50 or D44 HD, I guess I'm in the mood to show my ignorance tonight.

You'll be fine without a front swaybar.....if you need end links my buddy thinks he has a pair....

44hd is also a 4x4 frontend. You just have a regular ttb 2wd frontend.

2WD front ends are actually called I-Beam suspensions, TTB stands for Twin Traction Beam, hence for 4WD.

2WD= TWIN I-BEAM
4WD= DANA 44HD TTB OR DANA 50 TTB TWIN TRACTION BEAM
