I'm gutting a 97 E350 and 96 F350. The ECM that is under the dash in the van and inside the drivers kick panel in the truck, what's it for? Engine, tranny? The one in the truck looks like a real PITA to get out, any tricks or tips? I need to take these out before I haul these things to my buddy's junkyard and the vultures set in.:backoff The bolts are spinning on the ECM in the van.

yeah, those are the ECM's. You might wanna grab the GEM modules, too, if they are equipped (not sure either are)

In the 96 it will be easier to get the PCM out if you remove the inner fender well, but it sounds like this is a junkyard truck so just take two or three of the inner fender bolts out and pry it down out of the way so the PCM has room to slide forward out of the slot.

The one I'm talking about is inside the drivers side kick panel - buried behind the aluminum dash support structure...I can't see how it would slide forward out of the hole. It has studs that go through the firewall into the engine bay so you can put nuts on them.:dunno

These shots were taken in preparation for my chip install, in that fourth pic you can see a chip laying in the background.

Heres where you want to unbolt/unscrew to pry the inner fender down.

I'll give it another shot...LOL...I sold a bunch of gear on the 96 F350 so I need to get this out before I take it to the boneyard to be stripped.
