e40d slow to engage

my problem just started yesterday but when the truck has been sitting for a few hours and i put it in any gear it wont budge. after about 20-30 seconds it engages and its fine until i let it sit again. fluid is full and im stumped:dunno

Probably a sticking solenoid. Change the fluid!!!
Pull the codes to and see what come up. Im not familiar with codes but most people here are and im sure they will help you out.

If I remember correctly, that is a L/R clutch stack up problem....gets worse with age

The torque converter is draining back. Clean and inspect the check valve. You find it in the rear (return) cooler line. Debris can get stuck in the valve causing it to hang open.
