I have noticed the heater stays on even when it's in the off position

You mean the blower motor? That would indicate a problem with the ignition switch, and/or the actuator from the lock cylinder to the switch. Does the truck have A/C?

yes sorry for the delay when I have the blower off it is still putting out hot air. Yes the truck has aC also not sure I might need to adjust the electric ignition switch under the column but the key is hard to turn could this have an effect on anything?

Could be. I'd pull the wheel and at a minimum lube all the switch parts up. If it's stiff down at the actual switch which is lower in the Column and you don't fix it you will break the little actuator if it's not already.

I think when I put the new electric ignition swith on that slides for adjustment under the column I think I need to adjust that I guess by sliding it up some?
