dam door handles

got me a 86 jetta and have had nothing but problems with the door handles
cant open door to easy from the out side

any thoughts

are those the same handles that are used on a 96 passat?????

Those handles suck! Replacements are redily available since it is a common problem. The little hinge thingy inside wears out. I do no know if they are the same as the 96 or not.

well---the handles dont really wear out--the pivot pin comes out--take the door handle out--have to remove inside door card--after get handle out---youll see where the pin comes loose--push pin back in--then take half(approx) of a bike chain link--and youll see how to put it over the pin--and drill the area next to it with a 1/8 drill bit--and dont drill toooo deep----and use a 1/8 pop rivet to rivet that half over the pin--end of problem--and lowwww cost!!! hard to describe--easy to do--
