Hi all,

I drained out my coolant today - about 6 gallons. Got 3 gallons back in and then it seemed full. I assume it might be related to the thermostat being closed. Ran it for about 4 minutes then shut it down. Took off the cap and pressurized coolant came out.

What am I missing here ? How do I get the other 3 gallons in ?

Thanks

You need to bleed the system when you add coolant. You can take off the heater hose on top of the water pump, and add coolant until it starts to come out the spout. I also pull the temp sender on the block to make sure the coolant has made it to that level.

Once you top off the radiator, fill up the overflow tank and drive around for awhile. You will need to add to the overflow tank a couple more times to get it full.
