Hey everyone...
So I had theorized that you don't need to polish if clear coating because the clear coat fills in the haze, just like when painting anything.
I tried it out. It works great and is super fast.
The technique;
1) Mask your trim and surrounding area so you don't skuff or paint it. I went about 3" out with blue masking tape.
2) Wet sand with 600 grit until the sanding residue turns from "smoker tooth" yellow/tan to white.
3) Wipe with alcohol soaked cloth, dry and inspect for even hazyness and no scratches. Repeat in non even areas.
4) Shoot clear!
This took minutes and now looks almost like new. The difference is shocking. No need for fine polishing if you are using clear coat.
I used rust-oleum painter's touch ultra cover gloss clear from a can. "fast drying, non-yellowing, uv resistant"
