No, they are some special material; they may have graphite in them, but they aren't made from just graphite.

Either way, they work just fine.

Don’t know what exactly what they are made of, but I think there is multiple layers of steel that are bonded together with some type of graphite. Like macrobb said, they are good gaskets and highly recommended for these engines.

I'm 99% sure they are mostly graphite, except for the obvious places they are metal and whatnot. You can tell they are graphite when you wipe them off of the block deck. Looks like pencil lead.
