I just “deleted” my rear fuel tank and FSV, as rear tank was rusty/leaking and FSV was stuck on rear tank. ***Edit: this is for 6.9 with metal fuel tanks, for reference***

Routed return/supply lines for front tank only and there are no leaks in lines… BUT on top of shower head where the lines are metal there is a leak (small hairline crack in return). Looks like someone had previously used some sort of rtv/puddy/etc to patch it but in process of disconnecting/reconnecting lines I messed it up.

I’m wondering what y’all think is best way to patch it again? I don’t really wanna buy a whole new sending unit. Permatex gasket maker, a fuel tank patch kit? What y’all thinking?

Thank you in advance!!

I've never used jb weld in fuel before, pic of issue?
A leaking return inside of the tank seems no big deal....

Permatex makes a fuel rated rtv. I have never looked to see if it rated for diesel though. I have used it on gasoline in several situations with good results.

I may have misunderstood but I believe it is a crack in the return side of the sending unit on top of the tank where the lines connect.

Here’s a picture of where it’s leaking on top of shower head. There are small pin holes at bottom and top of indentation. picture is a little blurry, apologies.

Ps
They like to disintegrate in the tank
Research it and decide what to do. .

Seen your image It will be a hell of a job to clean that correctly before applying some reparation, be it to braze it with brass (preferred) or otherwise with chemicals.

I have a hard time believing that that piece of pipe is still sound.
I think that when you start to clean it, it will fall apart.
Therefore I suggest you replace.
