I cannot speak for the hybrid "ambulance" Leece-Nevilles, but the common BRAND-NEW BIG TRUCK Leece-Nevilles are less expensive than a stock chain-gang replacement alternator.

There are two common mounting styles of Leece-Neville and, once you build a bracket that accomodates one style or the other, so long as you stay with that particular mount style, any Leece-Neville you pick up will FIT, regardless of amperage.

^^^ You can get the rest of the story here. ^^^

The 110-555 is EXTERNALLY REGULATED with the regulator being mounted on the rear of the alternator itself.

It is also "self-exciting", thus no IGN wire is required.

They are a "one-wire" alternator without all the usual down-falls of a common one-wire alternator.

BEWARE of any of the specialty "HIGH-AMP" alternators that are built in a standard size case.

These units are way too small internally to live long at the high output.

These little high-amp units also still have the much-too-small shaft and bearings that are the down-fall of the standard alternators.

Those BIG Leece-Nevilles have HUGE bearings and big shafts, built for the long haul. ;Sweet
