It's been too cold outside for me to investigate hands on, suppose to warm up this week(I don't have a garage:() I may need a new alternator on my truck. Is it a standard GM 10si or 12si or are they diesel specific. I can pull one from a SBC truck at the local yard or am I wasting my time. I have a new 110amp one that is for a corvette(mid 80's) that I have to dig out to see if it will fit. I guess if it bolts in and the wiring plugs all match up I am good to go. Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks

I know my parts by "lester". 7127(std 63 amp) is the number used by 90% of GM products from 1973-1989. The diesels are no different. The voltage regulator plug should be at 12 o'clock.

My truck has the 7273 alternator in it. Autozone has a 7290 hi-output listed. My truck came with a new one of these on the front seat. Any clue what other engine I could get brackets to fit this (7290) alt to a 6.2?
