both sockets I have are 4 prong brad. I have used the smaller one on d44 and the bigger on d50s and d60s.

Hm the socket I picked up has 6 prongs...didn't look that closely at the 1/2 ton one but it was probably a 4 prong.

Guess I'll find out when I take it apart, I hope I don't have to take mine back and exchange it.

That is weird. EVERY D50 and D60 i have worked on has a 6 slotted nut(manual hubs) or a 6 sided nut(auto hubs)

When I pulled out my hubs tonight I had the 4-slotted nut sitting in there staring at me! And I definitely have a D50.

the small socket is for a D44
the nutz are for a D50/D60 as well as the hub.

I have only seen the 6 pin stuff on Chevy axles, every manual hub Ford I have had apart has been 4 pin, no matter if it was 44, 50, or 60, even the ones with the goofy racheting locknuts.

I had to run back out to the parts store today to get the right one...had to use the one out of their loaner kit, 2 5/8" ID I believe it was? The one I picked up was apparently 2 3/8". They didn't even have the one I actually needed in stock, thank God for those loaner tools.
