97 HD 3500 bad valve?

ok heres the deal im getting.its a 97 HD 3500,diesel,standard wheel lift wrecker.i gotta pull 2 engines and put one in the guys other truck and he is gonna give me this truck for doing it.he just had a remanned engine put in it a few months ago.now it has a serious skip,woofing sound and blowing some serious smoke.what could it be?

check your lifters in the motor ASAP.
I took out a woofing 7.3 and found two bad lifters on disection. 6.2/6.5 and 6.9/7/3 share common lifter P/N's. If I can get BrianS to stop by the shop tomorrow, I will have him take a pic and I'll post it for you to see. :eek: the lifters literally **** their internals.

hmmm.hopefully its something that simple.i was charging the guy 1500.00 to swap his engine and regasket the new engine.but he wants to give me the wrecker instead so i said yes. :D

i think its a chevron twin line wheel lift.not sure though.never really looked at it.if i decide to sell it after i fix it i already have a buyer for it.so either way i cant lose.

now i guess im getting cash instead of the truck.id rather have the chevy but 1800.00 bux sounds good also.but if i knew he was gona sell the chevy i wouldnt have done the ford in 1 day :mad:

I've had that done to me. Now, I have the "trade" vehicle in my posession first, and when the work is done, I take posession of the paperwork. Chalk it up as one of those "bitter" lessons -cuss
