Been trying to decide on tire size for my 85 dually. Being drw I need a narrow tire on the rears to eliminate rubbing of the sidewalls. I do not want to run a spacer wider than 1/4 inch between the duals. Been looking at 9.00-16 tires. They are all bias plys, but with a 2800 lb average rating per tire, 36.10 tall and only 9 inches wide.

Anyone running these or still running bias tires? I run my bias off road tires all the time, just get used to the flat spots when sitting. Just curious how they handle weight and towing. Do they get wiggly or feel like marshmallows loaded or no?

The duallys at work are running 235s with no rubbing.
Might be an option for you.

I dislike bias ply tires for anything other than ag equipment. They'll take a set and have a flat spot until the warm up in motion. My '90 dually came from the factory with 215's and had 235/85R17's on it when I bought it. Still plenty of room between sidewalls.

Been a while since I towed with bias, but my memory is that they are more firm than radials when towing. I was disappointed with the handling when we switched to radials on our 1974 suburban tow rig. We switched it over to radials in the late 80's or early 90s.

Can't run 235s and not have them rub typically without the extra deep rims. You get quite a bulge loaded. The parts truck i have had 235s on it and the rears had rubbed together and the spring pack on it.
