I'm looking to buy a new 2008 Chevy with the Duramax because my 99 F250 got totalled when some idiot ran a red light. I had hoped to get a 1 ton crewcab long bed but haven't had any luck finding this truck with the features that I want. I can get it set up if I drop down to a 2500HD. What I'd like to know is are there any differences in the braking system, axles, rear end, front end (4X4) or is the only difference 1 more overload spring added to the rear leaf pack? If it's just a leaf then I'll probably go with the 3/4 ton and install air bags if needed down the road.
Thanks,
Max

Welcome to OB!

As far as the trucks, as long as the one ton is still a SRW, I would venture to say they are the same except for springs. And for those gov't entities wanting to look if you are hauling, GVWR will be different.

Are the rear end and brakes bigger even on SRW and if both trucks are diesel? I was hoping they had put the same brakes on all Duramax trucks.
