I just did front wheel bearings 3 weeks ago.. i'm old and can't remember very well. But, 1-1/16 comes to my mind

They shouldn't be very tight. I usually just take them off with an adjustable wrench. Remember, too tight = too much bearing preload. Half the time they come off with just my fingers.
