I just put in an inter cooler and new injector orings. I stripped the 6 and 8 injectors tops so I bought new lines and injectors . I also installed an ATS upgrade kit with the inter cooler. The truck idles rough and puffs white smoke when I give it a little gas in park. I turned up the injector pump like the kit says to I just need to know if I need to get the truck re timed because of the 2 new injectors or if I may have another problem. Thanks for any help anybody can give and if I need to be re timed could somebody point me in the right direction around south east MA.

more diagnosis needed. white smoke indicates cold holes(low/no compression) . crack open lines individually to isolate the non-working cylinder. You either have a injector or a IP issue if the compression was good before the IC piping install.

The truck ran fine before the inter cooler and ATS upgrade . I cracked every line today the truck ran rougher on everyone. The truck has been sitting since January so I don't know if the fuel is the problem. The truck doesn't smoke at idle just when you hit the gas. The truck also seems to idle higher than before. I checked the high idle solenoid and that was OK so I just unscrewed the idle screw and that dropped the idle .

I think you need to try running it ******* the highway for a good 5-10 mile run then see if you still have the problem. I'm thinking you might have some residual air from changing the injectors. Also its possible that the new injectors screwed with the timing and you need to get it timed with tools if you can.

Replacing just the 2 injectors was probably not the best way to go. Your old injectors are going to have a lower pop-off presure, and may cause your timing to be out of balance. Figure that the new injectors are retarded timing wise in relation to the old ones. Also, if your pump is as worn as your injectors, it may not be flowing as much fuel to those new ones. Were the new injectors tested on the bench? There is always a chance that one or both are leakers, or not performing properly. Best option is to replace them all with a TESTED set.
