I am running a low gearset in the C6 in my Torino. The gearset is the first and second gears from an E4OD. They do not simply drop into a C6 case, there is some machining and some work involved.
The E4OD first gear ratio is 2.72 IIRC, and the C6 is 2.45 IIRC. It makes a difference, but...
I will only have this truck for 24 hours. It belongs to a friend of mine, and I am hauling it to the scrapyard for him. There are still a few good parts left on the truck..... I learned last time I hauled one off that many guys needed stuff I scrapped, so I want to help out this time if I can...
The ATS kit on my '91 seems to be a very well engineered setup, and I don't think it is in any way reducing the reliability of the truck.
With that said, it still won't run with my stock '95 powerstroke, but hey it's pretty darn close. The '91 gets a little help from the 4.10's, while the...
It's like this:
70 mph on the highway, the turbo is pushing 3 psi of boost.
It seems impossibe that the factory non-turbo truck could even GO 70 mph without a turbo, much less pull something that fast.

A C6 can stand a tremendous amount of abuse. I ran the C6 in my muscle car for a year with the temps pegging a 320 degree gauge. I figured the gauge was bad, but when it was freshen up time all the steels were BLUE! Frictions were OK. The trans never slipped once over all that time...
High side pressures are very important. There are commonly available adapters that will work with the smaller Ford R12 fitting and convert it to an R-134 fitting.
R134 high side pressures are much higher than for R12. As a general rule, you want to see no more than 3x ambient temp for high...
I can't stand this any longer...... a long ass A/C thread and not one person has asked about high and low pressures, or what kind of refrigerant is being used.
So.
What refrigerant are you using, how much did you put in, what are your pressures, and what is the ambient temp?

I can't say for sure about the Fel-Pro setup, but the Navistar repair sleeve I installed had the bevel facing the flywheel.
It came with an installation tool and instructions, too, for installing the seal properly.
The insstructions had the eal being driven into the rear plate and then...
I have that system on my '91. I hve found that the boost PSI is very sensitive to fueling changes at the injector pump.
The way I have it set now provides 12-13 psi and quite a bit of smoke at lower RPM's. With it defueled a flat, the boost is only 8 psi.
Additionally, any exhaust leak...
The truck had manual windows....
Trust me, the truck was a beat down dogpile. It had led a hard, unloved life and was only good for one thing....donating parts to my '95...
I had the truck for 6 days total, I couldn't keep it hanging around trying to sell parts off of it.
My salvage...
Thanks for the nice words, guys. I am in fact looking for some stock Ford aluminum wheels, but they're scarce around here and the caps are even harder to come by.
I have found several aftermarket wheels that look very similar to the Ford ones, and I may go that route instead.
As for the...
It's all good, bro, I wish I lived closer, I would have given you the complete running 1993 IDI that we ended up taking to the salvage yard with the rest of the truck....minus trans and axles, of course.
You can't hardly give 'em away down here.
Good luck with it,
Greg
Hey man, I do not think you're an idiot. If I did think that, I would have said it!
I am just stating that I know, from experience, that no engine is ever what it is claimed to be. Of the three engines I have bought as "running good when removed", all have needed complete overhauls.
Like...
You paid 1200 for a used unknown engine? Wow.
I don't think you're going to have much luck making someone reimburse you for not doing your homework.
Note to self.....don't buy any more used engines..... rebuild the one you have, it'll cost much less in the long run.....
Greg
Thanks for the info, it helps me out big time.
I had no idea Ford would still be stocking that part, so never thought to check at the dealership.
Since I already have shocks for the F350, it looks like I'll be needing to order the correct F350 mount from Ford.
Thanks again,
Greg
I am needing the shock mount that bolts to the frame and attaches the top of the front shock to the truck for my '91 4wd F350.
Anyone know where I can find one? The local salvage yards don't have anything old enough to work.
Thanks,
Greg
Not to sound harsh, but the "aerosol overhaul" can only get you so far.
Better to drop the pan before breaking out the paint, and especially before completing the engine install just to be safe.
Greg
Ok, here's what the truck looked like before:
here's what it looked like during:
Here's what it looks like now:
The swap was much more involved than I thought it was going to be, but the truck is now twice as cool as I imagined, too! It was worth every busted knuckle...
I am putting the bumper on this afternoon and I'll take a pic or two and post 'em up.
Had a scare earlier, the trans wouldn't shift out of 1st, and then it would pop into neutral at a stop light.
Turns out the MPLS was bad on the trans. I just swapped the other MLPS I had on the 2wd...
Wow, what a difference. I'm glad I did it, but I'll never do this job again.
I'm no stranger to hard work and big projects, but this swap took the cake!
Thanks for the help here, I really do appreciate it.
