RABS dump valve bypass. oem part.

Btt...it seems to me that if the RABS sticks open, then adding a bypass line would give full fluid flow and the rears would still lock up....unless a proportioning valve was used. My rears are locking up. I'm not sure if I want to bypass the valve or replace it.

    Fiberglass Sleeper

There's also a fabric system for the bed of the truck. Kind of a truck cap, but it folds down.

There are sleepers for sale in the various old truck marketplaces on FB. I would just sleep in a tent.

Diagnosing a Worn Clutch Master or Slave

I just noticed that my steering column moves down and to the left when I depress the clutch pedal. I guess this would explain the 1x1 piece of steel tubing that is welded from the floor to the column. Too much firewall flex I guess. At least I know why the clutch grabs too fast :) Truck is...

Diagnosing a Worn Clutch Master or Slave

The pedal has about 1" of free travel before any action happens. I'll check it out closer tomorrow.

Diagnosing a Worn Clutch Master or Slave

My clutch is engaging too fast. I have to push it all the way to the floor to disengage the clutch. I read a bunch of threads, but they always come up how to bleed or replace components, or how to replace the rod. Did I miss a thread?

How Much Louder is a SMF Over a DMF

This truck was very quiet before I replaced the clutch. It has the smoothest IDI of any of my trucks.

How Much Louder is a SMF Over a DMF

I just installed mine. The SMF seems to be louder than the IDI. What have your experiences been?

So what did you do with your truck today?

Finally got the zf5 installed into my '91 F350 4x4 cab & chassis. It actually runs and drives now for the first time in 4 years. It wouldn't start due to a single bad glow plug :) It's a short wheelbase. Perfect for plowing snow. Too bad I don't live in snow country :( The new SMF is a noise...

    ZF5 Bearing Clearances

I used something similar, but the jaws won't fit under the larger race in the front case. The other 3 has reliefs cut in.

    ZF5 Bearing Clearances

I can't get the main shaft race out if the housing. It doesn't have the notches cut in to allow my puller to fit. I've tried heating the housing with my propane torch for 20 minutes, but it won't budge. Any other ideas?

    ZF5 Bearing Clearances

For some reason this thread was locked down http://www.oilburners.net/forums/showthread.php?62490-ZF5-%28S5-47%29-Transmission-Rebuild What are the bearing clearances supposed to be after the main and counter shafts are shimmed? I replaced the rear case, reinstalled the races and shims. I...

Zf5 is Cracked In Two Places

It was owned by a pipeline company and had a utility box. It's seen it's share of dusty trails. I'm going to take it to a transmission shop and get the case cleaned. Then it's getting welded. I hope this is a good transmission. I haven't driven it. I bought it with a bad clutch. Guess...

Zf5 is Cracked In Two Places

The bellhousing I can get fixed. But as I cleaned the case, I noticed I have a crack going half way around the rear section near the tailshaft. If like to think my case is stressed relieved, but I'm guessing my case is junk. Is anyone offering the rear section at a reasonable cost?

What's the difference between '87 and '88 frames?

I'm looking for suspension kits and a RSK. I'm seeing kits that start at '88 and newer trucks. Will these kits fit my '87?
