I might, but I want to see if I can sell it all first. Give me a week or so and then I will decide. Duane

    1990 F350 7.3idi

I guess I'll throw my truck into the arena. It is a 90 that started life as an F250. I converted it to a 1 ton. Changed the rear axle and front hubs so it is a true dually now. Extended cab. Auto trans, 2wd. Approx 104500 original miles. Everthing is in good shape. Radiator, hoses, water pump...

    NEED LOWER STEERING SHAFT COUPLER

If you are referring to the coupler that is at the very end of the steering shaft and slides onto the splines on the gearbox, there is a kit available to rebuild it. It has about 6 or 7 little pieces and a new rubber boot. As long as the housing isn't damaged that should be all you need. Same...

    Cab Movement

I don't believe there should be any front to back movement, the clearance between a factory bed and the cab is what...a couple inches? However the frame will twist or torque side to side if you go through a big dip or driveway and you aren't square to it, I know that my truck will twist a...

I want to see some stacks!

Here are mine. The truck has been converted to a dually since these photos were taken, but the stacks are in the same place. Duane

Pros and cons of a dually?

One thing not mentioned is that if you blow a rear tire on a dually you can kiss the fender goodbye. Had that happen to me yesterday and it absolutely destroyed the drivers side. Now I get to spend several hundred dollars fixing it again. Makes a flatbed tempting. Duane

    Did I damage my E4OD?

The trip to get the tractor was a one shot deal, I don't anticipate having to tow this heavy again. I very well may get the updated pump and seal and pull the trans to put them in. I wish I had had 4.10 gears in it but again I don't think I'll need them now. Definitely will be installing a...

    E4OD Lockup Mod

Ok, I wasn't sure. After I asked the question I thought about it some more and decided that I would have probably stalled the engine or slipped the TC clutch anyway or broken something else. Thanks for the answer. I will make the mod and just not use it down that low. Duane

    Did I damage my E4OD?

Well I appreciate the opinions, I guess I will hope for the best for now. I'll pull the pan and service it soon and see if there is any debris in there. One more question. Will it hurt any of the seals or other soft parts if I switch to synthetic fluid when I do service it? Duane

    Did I damage my E4OD?

I don't think it was coming out of the fill tube, because I actually checked it while it was leaking and I couldn't see anything on the dipstick. The most fluid I put in at any one time was a little over 2.5 quarts to get it back to full. The OD light never flashed and after I got over the last...

    Did I damage my E4OD?

No, if anything its cleaner than before I started due to how much I put in. However it never got burnt smelling one way or the other. Nor is it funny colored. Looks like normal trans fluid should. My big concern was the leak. Did I fry the seal or do these things leak when they get that hot...

    E4OD Lockup Mod

With this mod can the converter remain locked in first gear for pulling? I just pulled 20000lbs over the Rockie Mnts. and was at times down to 10 mph for a mile or two. If I could have kept the converter locked I assume it would have helped the trans temp. Duane

    Did I damage my E4OD?

Well I made it home from Utah to Oklahoma with my 20000lb load. However, I fear I may have hurt the trans. I had to pull 3 very long steep passes and of course everything got hot. I do not have a trans temp gauge. My coolant temp never went over 230 and if it tried I pulled over to let things...

    Couple questions and comments

Mr. T, I will go check that right now. Thanks for that suggestion. I replaced the air filter earlier today, it didn't look terribly dirty but quite a bit of dirt came out of it when i knocked it against the bumper. Duane

    Couple questions and comments

I'll probably go slower down Douglas pass than I go up it. At least I replaced all the brakes when I did the dually conversion and I've got good brakes on the trailer. I've been over that pass many times in a big truck but never in a pickup with this much weight. Wish me luck. Duane

    Couple questions and comments

I don't know, my guess is that the IP is original with about 100K. Injectors probably the same, but the return caps and lines had been replaced before I gor the truck. I have played with it some more today with no load on truck and it is doing it even then, but just at that one spot at part...

    Couple questions and comments

I apologize, I forgot to post I have the E4OD. I knew that all the excess smoke was caused by the higher elevations and that that would translate to high exhaust temps. That is why I was backing out of the throttle. Rot Box, I don't know the condition of the lift pump, I don't know if I...

    Couple questions and comments

I just came from western Oklahoma up to northeastern Utah with my recently converted dually. I towed a trailer and the total weight was about 10000lbs. Going over the mountains west of Denver on I-70, specifically Eisenhower Tunnel and Vail pass, both of which are over 10000ft elevation, I...

    Score!!!!!

I don't know if the motor had ever been open or how many miles it had on it. I was tempted to buy the whole setup, but while it was up on their racks so I could pull the exhaust, they drained the oil out of the pan. About 3 gallons of water came out then maybe a gallon of oil. I figure the motor...

    Score!!!!!

I went to my local pick a part today to get some tow mirrors. I just happened to glance at a truck sitting off to the side that was new in the yard. Lo and behold it is a 93 7.3idi factory turbo motor with the entire turbo assy. pipes, oil line, and everything. Got the whole thing for $65. The...

    WTB dually overload spring stops

I need the 4 overload spring stops that are riveted to the frame. This is the last of the parts I need to complete my dually conversion. These are going on a 90 model. I'm going to be towing a heavy load next month and need these asap. If anyone has them let me know. Thanks, Duane

    Coolant temp readings

I just installed a mechanical temp gauge. It is reading somewhere in the 210 range at a high idle in my driveway. Fan is coming on like it should. New radiator, coolant, etc...Temp isn't going above that or coming down much when fan engages. I decided to check with my infrared thermometer and...

    91 7.3 idi low miles, starting issues/ other ?'s

I would bet the glowplugs are toast since ether was used, especially since the gp light is going off immediately. Mine stays on 10-15 seconds when the engine is cold. I definitely would charge the batteries and have them load tested to see if they are any good, the faster it cranks the...

    clearance lights

Tonkadoctor You are correct. I haven't decided yet if I am going to mount three separate lights or buy a pre-wired light bar. Does anyone know if those light were mounted on the tailgate or under it from the factory? Duane
