    Chug Chug CHUG

Well, pulled the pass side valve cover and fired her up. Sure enough, we got exhaust coming out of the #2 exh valve guide. I can reach down and wiggle the valve and spring assy. Found a 7.3 complete and running for 200 bucks. Gonna pull the pass side head and replace this next weekend, cause...

    Chug Chug CHUG

Hey ladies and gents- Been a while. Thought I'd pop in and say hey and see if you all can help me solve a little problem here. My brother has a 90 model f350 dually with the 7.3 and E40D. The problem is a new noise that started about a month ago or so. When the truck is idling whether...

    89 F-250

The truck actually belongs to my brother. He and his wife have a little sliver of property east of Dallas. Farm tags are quite a bit cheaper that reg tags, at least here in TX. Besides, insurance is cheaper too.

    IP replacement tips

We ordered a rebuilt IP from Pensacola Diesel today. Only $825.00 w/ 1 yr warranty. It should be here middle of next week. We'll see how she holds up. Anybody got any tips or tricks for replacing the IP? Or maybe even a service procedure? I figure it should be pretty straight forward...

    96 CTD Injector problem

I dunno, you tell me. Remember, be gentle, I'm a former IH'er that barely knows his way to the light switch in an old goat. I think we have found that the IP has $h!t the bed, and it's entirely possible that the f'n around that I did may have contributed. I think we did get the valve body...

    96 CTD Injector problem

Think we may have found the problem, but first a question. Is the thing on top of the IP (6 of them) that feed each individual injector line call a delivery valve? The #5 delivery valve is broken at the o-ring. It came out in two pieces. Gonna attempt to fix by welding and machining...

    96 CTD Injector problem

Well, after pulling the valve covers and seeing that the vale train is good, I talked to Bryant here at my local DIS. I still need to do the compression test on her, but I think that compression will prove good. DIS seems to think that the IP has taken a turn for the worse. He told me to pull...

    96 CTD Injector problem

It's kinda funny, #5 looks like it's getting more, no matter which injector is in the hole. I'll assume though, it's okay.

    96 CTD Injector problem

Thanks Travis- I'll give it a look tonight or maybe tomorrow and see what I can find. Other that putting the IP on a test stand, Is there any way to check to see that the pressures at each injector are correct? Or should I stick with the theory that if I get fuel, it's enough fuel. By...

    96 CTD Injector problem

Well, I got good news and bad news... Good news, It's not the Injector. I got adventurous and swapped #4 and #5. Bad news- Problem stayed at #5. Dead hole. I don't think it's fuel related because if I crack that line, I get what I think is plenty of fuel at the line nut. Come to...

Thinking of swapping my c-6 for a e4od

Be sure you get the 4wd E4od. The 2wd version will not accept the xfer case. Totally differet output shafts and tailpiece. You could do a diverced case like an NP205 or something

    96 CTD Injector problem

I got the injector out of the hole, and clened her up, but to no avail. I'm going to try and find a place local to Dallas that can do a pop off test on this thing to see if it's good or not. I guess I'll end up putting a new one in it.

    96 CTD Injector problem

I tried basically that same thing, but with the injector line nut threaded on, prying up with a pry bar(about 3' long) against the exhaust manifold but I did not want to put too much pressure against it. Can I really lean on that thing? I wonder if I ought to put a little penetrating oil in...
