Gary, very sorry to hear this. I recommend your service often. UPS has a habit of throwing stuff... they don't care what it is. It may be that you need more padding. I'm glad you have a source to get these repaired. As others have said, you are a true asset!

It would cost more to ship, but maybe can get a pelican case for them?
They're used in the military for sensitive items.

I was thinking this too but have you ever priced one (o_O) I'm sure it's cheaper than rebuilding the meters but those pelican cases are expensive!

I think they sell some things you can put in the case that will break when a certain level of vibration/loading occurs. Maybe could put some of those in there to see what is going on. It's either that or put an actual powered vibration meter in there to record it.

That they are. But you can get used ones way cheaper.
Locally a guy had hundreds of them. Was selling about $30/each.

Thanks everyone for all the comments. Mel I appreicate the thoughts too. When things are back up and running again i will post a notice. The great part of these meters is they are supported and if you needed to you can purchase a new meter. but they are going to cost lots. A few years back a new J33300-A meter with the digital display like mine was around $650.00 and I found them as high as $1500.00 too. The lumi probe costs about 400 bucks but glad nobody uses them. I have several probes with the harness. they never get shipped because one must figure the cetane of the diesel and the specific gravity too. then you pull a glow plug and install the lumi probe.. Way too much work really. The special line clamp is around 75 bucks and the harness for it is another 150 bucks. then finally the magnetic probe is nearly 400 bucks these days. Luckily I have spare mag probes and line clamps and the clamp harness because some of my meters purchases included multiple pieces. One seller sold me a broken case and the meter was broken. I noticed he had thrown in several mag probes and 5 lumi probes!!!. I told him this was not as advertised telling him he had clearly hidden the broken case. also I explained how much extra he had sent to me and what those parts were worth. I politely suggested he take back the "not as described " meter and parts and resell them for a huge profit.. His response was you pay shipping back WITH the same box and packing and he would refund ONLY my purchase price..!!! WHF homer... I'm telling you there is PLENTY of money to be made selling off the parts... NOPE... He was not hearing any of this.... So I kept the broken meter and sold off most of the parts... Made a HUGE PROFIT even after the cost of this broken meter... Some just never learn....

Speaking of pelican cases; what size case would one of these meters require? I ask because my employer is a distributor and I get 50% off everything, Id be willing to help out if he ever considered something like this.

I don't know, never used one.
I'm sure Gary or someone else with a meter could give dimensions.
