Hi guys I'm new to Cummins motors. I just bought a factory Ford 12 valve and am pretty excited. I tried searching around and didnt find much. Engine runs great even with no grid heater and it snowing out. I'm wondering what steps to do when I start changing out stuff. Example, when checking the KDP I'd need the kdp kit, timing cover gasket, and what other parts while im in there. The same goes for belly pan, what should I replace while im replacing the gasket? I heard there were plastic oil squirters somewhere that should be replaced.

Just found out the 5.9 came in 650's early 2000's. Learn something new everyday, too bad they didn't throw it in their pickups :dunno

haha yeah, I think if ford put the Cummins in their f series then dodge / Chrysler would have gone out of business.

Oh yes do the dowel pin very important it's 80% going yo kill your motor or the other 20% you get luckily and it misses every timing gear on the way down. Was they year on that 12v? Oh and change the head gasket the have a failure point on the front passenger side for leaking coolant.

The motors a 95 with 140k miles and a fuller 6 speed. What I was wondering is in addition to bolting the tab in front of the pin are there any upgrade/updates to do while i've got the thing apart? is there a gasket set for this procedure or is everything just RTVed?

Just get a timing cover gasket. Good news is you have a fuller transmission and a p7100 pump.

Any chance yours has 2 tubes coming from the oil filter housing? Ive got one going to the turbo and the other one just ends in a 1/4 JIC fitting. I'm assuming it went to an electric pressure sensor on the firewall somewhere?
