Cheaper, gas or diesel???
5.4 will pull good up to around 7,000 pounds with overdrive off. From what I've read online about the 5.4 in a 250 is pulling they get around 9 mpg. The diesel will out last the gas job. If you're only pulling once in a blue moon the gasser may be cheaper for you in the long run with maintenance...- performancelaw

Bad exhaust leak !!!!
Yea lol. I want to redo the inside but can't seem to get a break. I've got ball joints and tie rods to do very soon. Then I'm shooting to redo the entire fuel system. Once all this is done its going to the paint shop so she looks good again. Just a slow process. That damn Durango has stalled the...- performancelaw

Bad exhaust leak !!!!
I've only heard one 6.8 in person. I thought at first it was a gas job until he got on it a little bit to get up a slight hill. My truck isn't overly loud either. That fine with me but the exhaust leak is so bad as soon as you fire it up I cam heat it. Then under and sort of load that's all you...- performancelaw

I don't run a muffler either ... I don't think a lot of guys do. I just can't stand the exhaust leak. That's all you hear. The newer diesel motors are a lot quieter then our idi's. Listen to them at an idle. The new 6.8 can't be heard until they get on it. I like hearing the diesel run.- performancelaw

I have a turbo ... I figured it couldn't be good for it. It drives me crazy. It looks to be a pain in the ass to change ?? There's not much room in there. How much you want for a spare that you've got laying around ? I'm hoping to fix it soon. Hoping for a little better power and not so much...- performancelaw

Bad exhaust leak !!!!
I've had a bad exhaust leak since I bought the truck. Figured out the passenger side manifold is cracked at the connection to the cross over pipe. How big of 5ver are you pulling?
Mine is a 1994 king of the road 34 footer. It's 13k. It's heavy but with the five speef I don't feel it to bad. No speed records. I stay around 60 but have done 70 I just heat up to around 240- performancelaw

It's a 4 wd tranny but the truck is currently 2 wd ( got a hell of a deal on it ). I never heard it with the auto. It's not really something that scares me to badly. zf question
I just did the swap about a month ago. I love the 5 speed vs the auto. It has a noise ( I assume gear roll ) when I lug the motor. That doesn't bother me. At about 60 til about 65 or so the tranny gets quiet loud. It stops once you get it over 65. Is that normal ? If not how do I fix it ?- performancelaw

Yes the swap is well worth it ! You'll feel like you have added horses. I just did mine and love it. You'll need the fly wheel , clutch etc , clutch pedal assy , master cylinder , slave cylinder and the line that goes between them. And if course the tranny.
