Thanks for your time. Unless I am really missing something I don't see the wiring as much of an issue. Certainly not the bulkhead part. 90% of all the sensor wiring, lighting, a/c, cruise control, heater, w/w, starter, tach is already going through the existing bulkhead connector. Seriously considering removing the 6.9 from my 86 supercab and installing 4.9 EFI with an E4OD from a 1996 F150. Possibly the wrong forum if I expect much encouragement. The 6.9 has a C6 behind it with a GV overdrive attached. It all works fairly well but I am getting rather tired of the noise...- nic55kel

AC compressor to compress air?
I have done this a few times. Ran one unit for several years just fine. Two problems - the compressors are designed to pump oil and it circulates back to the compressor in the a/c system so you will have to keep topping up oil. Charging issues
It takes at least 14.5 volts to charge maintenance free batteries fully! Once they are fully charged the maintain voltage is around 13.5. If you are only seeing 12.4 volts at the alternator output something is wrong and the batteries will die. One problem with older vehicles and newer...- nic55kel

factory turbo for you all? who needs it ?
I have a ZF5 with clutch and flywheel not 4x4 - but the flywheel is not in great shape. I had planned on installing but decided against - wife doesn't like standard and she drives it occasionally. Would be interested in swap. PM me if this is any use to you.- nic55kel

bad starter?
To identify if the wiring is the problem you need to measure the voltage drop from the battery positive to the starter positive when cranking. Should be not more than .5 volt. Check the same again on the ground side, voltage drop between battery negative and starter case. Again no more than .5...- nic55kel

How is it stored? If it is sitting with all the weight on the oil pan the oil pump suction may be restricted. overheating....
Why did you replace all those items? Was it overheating before replacement? Did you use the Ford thermostat? If your gage was only at the L it is still in operating range. When they overheat the factory gage will go off scale to the pin. If it didn't boil out it could not have been truly...- nic55kel

Why & How Did You Get Here.
Got here after buying my IDI truck in July of 2013. Did not take much googling before realizing that this is THE site if one has an IDI. I love the simplicity of the truck but not so much the way it scares mothers and small children.- nic55kel

Injector changeout
Well after about 3 weeks of driving this is what I notice. Truck starts much much easier. Smokes much less. Less noise. Fuel economy has gone from about 14 mpg (US) to about 16 mpg (US). The improvement is probably better than that. Have not made any long trips yet. Not a difficult job and...- nic55kel

Assuming that once it has started it runs fine: It sounds like you had starting problems before the new injectors? Return line leak is most likely. It was all apart to install the injectors. Even if it doesn't visibly leak fuel externally it may well let air in when sitting. With the...- nic55kel
