96 stumbles when letting off the throttle? + injection pump?

Check the idle speed. Mine would stall when cold if I let up off it suddenly. I bumped up the idle speed to spec. M.D.

    No reverse?

I have 97. Sometimes when it's real cold I can start backing up and it will drop out of gear. If I put it in park then back to reverse it's ok. I figure when it's real cold a valve must be sticking or something. M.D.

    Diesel wheel horse

Right now just use it to pull a cart around the yard and pull a sulky with dad in tow at the steam/tractor shows. I'd like to rig up a pto and hang an old homelite generator on it that another buddy gave me. It's missing it's motor also. I could use it for remote power. I think it's around...

    Diesel wheel horse

I didn't actually swap. A buddy gave me the tractor minus a motor. I had the diesel and was looking for something to do with it. So.... M.D.

Not as cool or fast as Dave's BMW but here's my old Wheel Horse 1056 with a Lombardini diesel.

Pinhole in oil pan...would JBWeld work?

JB Weld will work. I've used it to patch gas tanks and even lightly scored cylinders in hit&miss engines. The trick is the area your patching has to be totally clean. Use brake clean followed by acetone. M.D.

    automatic 727 check valve removal

I've heard of it being done with no issues other than it will definitely drain back when shut it off. It'll take a few seconds to refill the converter on a restart so if you crank it up and put it in drive right away it may take a second or two to start moving. If you do it just put it in...

New member of the dark side

The dark side of the force is strong. You running the stock plate? With the 5 speed you could go for a 10 or better yet a 0 plate...just hold on to it when you mash the pedal.

    96 cummins

Lift pump issues were with the 24 valve engines. Replace the filter. Also check the fuel return line, they're know to fail and suck air. Mighty Dodge

What did your truck get for Christmas?

Nothing fancy, just a couple of new valve stems...got tired of the slow leaks.

    HP/Torque numbers guess

430-450 sounds about right. But there's only one way to find out for sure.

    Oil leaks

I think the way there supposed to work is they have chemicals in them to soften old seals and stop them from leaking. I don't think they work. It's best to fix it right by replacing the leaking seal(s) and or gasket(s). That way you won't have to worry about it any more.

    Where to start reading

You might want to leave the new filter on loose. That way when you manually pump the fuel you can tell when/if the filter's full then tighten the filter. If you still not getting fuel, don't forget to check the prefilter down by the lift pump. It's just a screen but it could be clogged up...
