Pics of the welding on the bell housing when you get it back. Done a few of those meself. Grind out the crack, wire brush to clean, TIG weld. Might consider drilling a hole at each end of the crack to keep it from cracking farther.

I wouldn't be afraid of it if it's done right.

Yes I'll post pics it's at the welder now and should be done soon. Yes to drill stopping and grinding this guys a pro.

ThAnks guys I ordered the part to ad to my massive pile of Ford goodies to help complete my swap. I'm going to do the hydroboost at the same time. I really want to billet proof this rig since I'll be dragging my whole family and trailer up into the sierras with it.

Removed the hood today fur more light. I pulled the brackets and pulleys and removed the waterpump and thermostat.

I plan to blast and paint all the brackets. There seems to be a lot of crud behind the balancer but looks like you need a pulled to get it off, would you guys bother it not?

Also planning to remove the bed today so I can get better access to clean up the frame and run new hoses.

I'm planning to delete the fuel pump at this time since it's easy to access with the brackets off the motor.

Would you guys recommend switching to an electric radiator fan at this point or stick with stock??

I'm also considering removing the vacuum pump and getting a small electric vacuum pump for my accessories as I'm upgrading to hydroboost brakes.

You will be hard pressed to find an electric fan setup that will move the amount of air needed for the IDI.

The vac pump you could switch to electric. The dash vents are all run by vacuum. So you eliminate the pump and vents won't work properly.

Your cruise control relies on vaccum as well. I'd leave the pump alone, mine's never given me any problems so better not to fix it if it ain't broke!

Ok so scratch the electric fan and vacuum pump. I'll move forward with the electric fuel pump.
Al though the fuel return lines are not leaking I got a new kit and will replace them while I'm at it.

The bed is off thanks to 3 helpful neighbors to help lift.

So now I'm set up to make progress throughout the week as I have time.

You know guys now I'm thinking maybe I don't even need the electric fuel pump.... thoughts??? Is it a worthwhile upgrade? Everything else is going to remain pretty stock....

So you think this pump is up to the job??
I guess I need a hot lead and a relay..

Yes you need a relay and hot lead. Do NOT forget to ground it out, or you will over heat the wires and lose connection. Ground it at the pump and off the hor lead, also use a inline fuse. I have the same set up and it works great. The mechanical pump was a fail for the diesels. Oh and make sure you connect it to a switch wire so that it turns off with the ignition.
