What the heck are you talking about? Electronics are here to stay and those that got with the program early on are doing well ;Really It is a matter of time before IDI's are a thing of the past because of emissions. I believe Canada is planning on instituting a law that prohibits heavy trucks manufactured prior to 2009.

Your a Federal Reserve ****** too! the British have come and conquered.

Your not quit on Q, allot of the companies seem to be going back to gas because the new diesels are overly complex expensive pieces of junk. They can build a direct injected motor without all the complex electrical systems. As to weather it is EPA compliant is another story. Use your eyes and look around you, this whole economy is going under from vehicles that cost 60 to 70 thousand and several thou every time you open the hood.

Companies are going broke and new trucks are part of the problem that sum up our whole situation in America today. When I looked at the prices of new trucks I about died the other day. You are right about the stone ages and I prefer the pricing better in those days.

My truck was $19,000 brand new... With inflation figured that is around $35,000 in 2013 dollars. Same truck now costs $49,941 at the local Ford dealer (Brand new Lariat 4x4 Diesel). Once you take into account the added power, towing capabilities, and a far superior transmission not to mention all the interior features and longer life I don't see it being a bad deal. Yes there are problems with emissions systems but there were lemons before emission systems too.

In the old day's you could actually get a descent job and pay for it even with the inflation that the Fed counterfeiting operation generates, but today they have gutted our country of it's ability to carry it's weight so 50 grand is unlikely for the average slave of the British Empire.

The trucks I saw at the Ford dealership could be way and I mean way over 50, 2 weeks ago when I looked at the price of new trucks I about died with disbelief.

Every single mechanic I talked to said the new diesels were junk in the long run, every one!

I don't really see how? Life expectancy of an IDI is about 3-400,000 miles if taken well care of. There's 6.0's with 300k and then there's IDI's that cavitated before 100k. A Duramax will last 3-400,000 miles. And the 6.7 is too new to tell.

You have to remember that you'll only ever hear the bad stories.

I'm not taking sides. If a person declares that ALL the mechanics talked to say the engines of "X" brand are junk stop and ask. How many mechanics did you ask and in what area of the country. Its all about perspective here. We have a far reach in the diesel community that covers the world. Not just a place near you or me. We have owners that speak from many years of ownership and sometimes many trucks too. Any personel attack is never tolerated here. Whats worse is name calling. We have a fantastic group of members from all walks of life here. Many frequent this forum because its well kept by moderators and mostly by our faithful members of long standings. I have been here by invitation since 2005. I do not seek out other forums. I have all I can handle here answering questions that help those in need. The biggest man I know can say.. "I'm sorry I made a mistake". Those are words I live by. If I name call here its directed to someone that knows me and can run with it. As crippled as I am this really hurts to ask those in this thread ease it back some and continue to be good members here. I'm not now or do I ever want to be a moderator here or anywhere. I do appreciate those that can do that job.

... Did anyone find the thread the OP was referring to? I searched for quite some time and never found it.

Every mechanic and even the Ford dealership mechanic said that they WOULD NOT OWN ONE LONG TERM period, to expensive to maintain long term. A few of them said their customers were going back to gas for their fleets because the new diesel were to expensive and really for them made no sense.

Gas is cheaper than diesel, the new gasser's were getting mileage on par with the diesels and they were way cheaper to maintain.

All the mechanics agreed the performance of the new diesel trucks was awesome but added because of the complex electrical systems the vehicles long term were not what they would own.

These are people who owned the old trucks but will not buy a new one on several fronts, as far as they were concerned they all said to me quietly they were pieces of chit for the work man long term!

And buy the way the comments I made were a joke, it just baffle's me that people still do not understand the real system we live under and how it drives the companies to make products that are designed to pick your pocket in order to stay afloat to service this debt based pyramid system.

Vehicles that left me stranded:

IDI: 1
6.0 PSD, the biggest POS ever: 0

I love my IDI, but the 6.0 by far is so much nicer to drive. (I only say all of this because someone above said something about vehicles leaving you stranded).

Any vehicle can leave stranded the ? is how hard are they to fix and get going and at what price, the 6.0 I hear is good when fixed but Ford should have never released it the way it was to the consumer.

My IDI smells like diesel at times, do the new ones have this problem?

From what I have read, if you loose the oil in the engine, it will quit running because of lack oil to the HPOP before it gets to the point of being starved enough to lock it up.

Yes, they will just die. That's kind of the beauty of the HEUI system. Seen it multiple times: towed into the shop of the highway, fill er up with oil and hit the road again. That's my experience anyway.

This kinda reminds me of drivers crying about their dd15's and how their old series 60 was never in the shop all the time.... as in it's bunch of stupid useless misinformed opinionated rumor mill BS. Some of the chit some of these hosers say.....
Fact is newer diesels have their role to play and not some stupid conspiracy to make a guy buy another truck at a 100k. Manufactures have ever increasing EPA standards they have to meet along the general publics expectations to meet ie hp/ftlbs, latest and greatest tech, creature comforts etc. Chits going to get complicated. Get used to it.
And for the record, I really hope that dumb theory of California breaks off and falls into the ocean happens in my life time. The very day I got my dd214 I chucked deuces and said fug this Ralph Nader loving piece o chit state.

The fact of the matter is yes the new vehicles are better in some ways but they cost to much to maintain when something goes wrong with them, I have not looked at the prices but have been told YOU WOULD NOT BELIEVE the prices on some repairs on the new diesel or any new truck or car but the new oil burners have been said to be the worse..

If you want to know how big these conspiracies can be go research the real Global Warming and the real purpose of it, the system around us is designed to get rid of the middle class world wide through a debt based monetary system in order to transfer all wealth to the top to the none producers who use a accounting gimmick to do this.

Everybody and all Corps have got to service debt if you conform to this modern system and the Corporations owned and controlled by the banks are just trying to maintain their ground and gain a little in debt servitude and picking your pocket is the key.

Under this current system the Bank ends up owning the whole planet.
