both of these plates are on the inside of the cab not the outside. so you will not need an adjustable plunger for the master cylinder.

i have seen the plate your describing but not sure if that was an afterthought by ford or not. this plate is the "small" reinforcement place as is stated in the TSB.

ive seen the one your talking about and thats what i thought mel was sending me until i went back and looked in the TSB.

im not sure what that small "er" plate is...maybe is fords pitiful attempt at fixing the problem. however that plate will only keep the hols from tearing from right around the master not at the seams or from letting the firewall flex.

sle2115 there shouldnt be any difference in pedal feel because the master cylinder isnt moving from its original position. if the plate were to go on the outside then yes you could have play in the pedal.

I didn't realize these plates mount on the inside of the firewall. Man I hate working under the dash, and pretty much have to take the front seat out to do anything under there. I guess I am getting old.

Whatever you're charging for these things, it's just right, and if anyone thinks it's too much , I suggest that they make a scaled drawing and take it to a local machine shop and find out what they would charge to make one( 10 years ago the only local shop that took on single jobs charged $100 a hole for each hole that had to be punched in an item , I can't remember the prices for bends and shape cuts... and that was with my cousin working there). Paying for qualified machinists is not cheap and they take into account wear on tools and supplies on every job( if they didn't they'd go bankrupt).

For people who don't do any kind of regular fabrication, they would be shocked to find out what a piece of steel plate that size costs these days , BEFORE you start doing anything to it
Then of course, before any profit, there's consumables on the plasma rig, insane amounts of electricity consumed as the KWH wheel spins in high gear while the cutter and compressor go full tilt ( all of which makes for a beautiful set of cuts )

Your instincts are correct Nick. It was yours. That one is going in the Moosestang, but since he lives close, and there was a need I put my project on hold to fullfill it.

I will definitely be needing a large patch! I just picked up this 88 F350 CC 4x4, something tells me that patch was installed wrong!

Lookin great!

Really lookin forward to getting one of the large plates. My firewall is so bad I have to shut the truck off to get it in/out of gear at a dead stop. I'm hoping to replace a few spring hangers and get back on the road soon;Sweet
