My cruising EGTs are about 100 degrees cooler at 65mph. I also plugged my wastegate hose, now I just need to turn up the pump some more.

I just got back from doing some test pulls with a trailer hooked up, about 10,000 GCW. With the wastegate unhooked and plugged I can peg my 15psi boost gauge if im not careful. EGTs never got past 1000 though.

I would like to hook the wastegate back up and limit it to 12psi. Do I just need to shorten the rod on the actuator?

Shortening the rod will increase the boost needed to open the wastegate.

Lucky I found this thread again! I just have one question...

dave186, what size of IC did you use? What type? I've been surfing ebay and there are so many to choose from, I'm not sure what to get!

The style and setup you went with is EXACTLY what I'm looking for though, right behind the bumper. Although I will need to slot my bumper...

its 31x12x3. I wanted to get a 4" core instead of the 3 but the cost nearly doubles. the 31" included the tanks, and is just about perfect to go around the radiator. With a 2wd mounting will be even easier without the shackles to deal with. Im not sure how the bumper mounts on the older trucks, but I did have to do some massaging to the bumper brackets but if you were more creative you could avoid that.

I do plan on pulling it all back apart and trimming a bit more on the core support and somehow protecting the alum. tube from getting a hole rubbed in it where it passes thru.

I'm planing on doing the same intercooler on my 89 when I rebuild it, but I put the 94-96 cooler vents in the bumper for it.
You must be registered for see images attach

I got lucky that bumper didn't get messed up when I wrecked it.

Mine is a 91' 2WD so it shouldn't be too much of an issue to work with. Now is that a bar and plate or a fin design? Also, is that 31" from inlet to inlet or the core itself? Sorry for all the questions, I think I probably missed the details page in here somewhere. Really debating doing this since I still have my hypermax turbo in the box waiting to go in...

EDIT: Just priced one somewhat matching your dimensions on ebay, $70 doesn't look too bad...

31 inlet to inlet, i think the core is 24"? It is a bar and plate style.

BigDave, thanks for the pic. I have the cooler vents sitting on my bench waiting for me to add them to my 89. I was wonder what it was going to look like.

Can I have the dimensions of your homemade intake hat? The part that bolts to the intake? I would like to make a cold air intake for my truck that is N/A. I work at a machine shop so it shouldn't be an issue. Thanks.

I put most of the important measurements in my original post. The main thing is the 5.125" ID of the piece that sits on the intake. Everything else you can make to your liking. You might not be able to tell in the pics but the 90 coming out of mine is not centered or straight, I had to make it that way to clear the turbo outlet and the wastegate.
