I have a 91 7.3 idi with the ats 088 turbo. I am doing a dyno run tomorrow. I was wondering if anyone knows the estimated stock power the 7.3 idi puts out without a turbo to the rear wheels? I want to know the power increase the turbo is. Thanks Matt:dunno

don't know what the numbers are, but prepared to be severely underwhelmed. If you measure out 100hp at the wheels, consider yourself blessed.

Don't know about at the wheels, but I think a stock 7.3 has 185hp at the crank.

Real world dyno numbers are not real common. I don't know of any stock IDI's that have been on the rollers except for the Diesel Power IDI (it made 91 or 92 hp at the wheels). :dunno

I think we'll have a better idea of what is "normal" or "expected" once we get several (hopefully more than 10) on the dyno this July at the Rally. We can pool the results and hopefully it will give us some useful information on what is stock, what works and how well it works at increasing performance. It will not be definative, but it will help.

Got my dyno results today. The hp was 206.6 and the torque was 346.4 at the rear wheels. I was surprised that it was this high.

It has the zf5 trans and 4.10s in the diffs. Yes the ip is turned up 2 to 2.5 flats. I do have a boost and pyro gauge.

I think this is a very good baseline comparison to Jim Allen's run. His was a slightly smaller displacement being the 6.9L, same gearing, 3" exhaust, but with a C6 automatic. I would have expected there to be a bigger difference in power loss to the slushbox. Forgot to ask, whats your boost pressure maxing out at?

Maybe its a myth that C6 automatics are gas hogs:confused:

OK guys, its now official. From now on a turbo IDI should be putting 200 RWHP;Sweet
