What condition are the interior plastics on the extended cab? I need a rear kicker panel (behind the fold down seats). I can paint it to match if it's not red.

I've got a standard and extended cab going to scrap soon. If anybody wants any "cutaway" views, me and my Milwaukee Sawzal will be glad to oblidge.

reading a recent article in the magazine, they took large strips of dynomat/sound material and stuck it to the open spots in the roof . when the head liner was put back up it added extra effort. This came from a shop who specializes in interior work.

Yep I figure the padding on the back of the headliner would be enough. I don't have any butyl rubber padding anyway and I don't want the asphalt stuff up there, so I'm skipping it.

I'm only doing one layer of soundproofing this time. If it proves not to be enough, then I'll tear it apart again and add another layer.

When I was doing the floor anf firewall of my truck as part of the ZF5 nstall I took thee advice here:

It really worked well and as long as you are in there add the second layer!

I'm worried about the plastic panels fitting back on correctly. The floor and the firewall should be OK, since they only get rug or nothing.

We'll see how I do on materials.

Some cut-aways of the sheet metal below the halfcab window would be wonderful, if it isn't too much trouble. :) It'd be nice to see what I should expect before I start cutting.

Thank you very much!! ;Sweet

It should be worth it in the end, though...I can't wait to hear the testing results after you've got it all back together! ;Sweet

I've been spoiled by the Town Cars at work...I want to get the interior of my truck quieter, but time and $$ are keeping me at bay at the moment :( so I'm living vicariously through you ;)

Peel-n-Seal is only $12.00/roll at Lowes! So far only gone through 3 or 4 rolls from what I can recall. I think 5-6 rolls will do the whole cab in 1 layer.

It's a butyl-asphalt aluminized flashing mat used in the roofing industry. And much cheaper - although almost identical to - the expensive stuff sold in the car audio industry:

L O L!!!! thats some good shopping on your part there manky, I figured it was something like that. I hate it when they rebadge some ordinary product as a "specualty item" and jack the price up just because they can.

I can't wait to find out how it works for you;Sweet

1st layer finally done

I'm thinking I'll do a complete 2nd layer on the firewall and the driver and front passenger area, but only use full length strips avoiding bolts, etc. on the rest of the cab. I really want to wrap this up by Saturday and fitting corners, curves and bolt holes is a killer.

I'm also wondering how well I'll be able to get my new carpet to adhere to the the aluminized stuff I put in.

Doing the second layer, about half done - goes a bit faster after you learn how the stuff works. Still trying to decide whether or not to apply a second layer to the rear cab walls. I figure I might as well while I'm at it, but that means the truck won't be back together before Sunday which is a bummer :)

Need it done by Monday as they finished tarting up the replacement bed I left at the body shop. I had them weld the holes and grind the studs for the chrome and grind them down so we no longer have chrome on the rear of the vehicle, will do the same to the cab when the time comes.

Can we see a picture of your a/c box?
