Good pics, I just did this repair to a pickup a few weeks ago, thought about doing a writeup for you guys at the time but was in a hurry to get it done and back out the door and back to work (-20 degrees, cows were hungry). That piece breaking is fairly common, they really like to break when it is cold, so be gentle turning your ignition key when it is cold, or you guys will need to read his article. LOL LOL

Did this article ever get written?

My 86 F250 is down with a key switch that turns 360 degrees and a truck that is stuck in neutral, thank goodness I live on flat land.

What I need to know is if there are any special tools involved in rebuilding the column, and if there are any adjustments and/or settings I need to be aware of.

I think that my problem may be the broken piece shown in the pics above, is there a replacement part available at the local dealership, and if so, what should I ask for?

Thanks

big jake

it did get written and sent to mel.no special tools needed.i forget what that broken piece was called.but the dealer should have it or if you have a shop that repairs steering coulumns they should have it.

give me your email and ill send the article to you.if you have trouble finding the part let me know as i can get them easily and i think it was 15 or 20 bux.
