I am surprised no one mentioned this. You got your plugs out fine and that's great!!
The reason why we say Motorcraft/beru plugs only is the time that they last over other brands. But this is not the only reason.
Inferior brands have been known to burn out prematurely...then the tips swell up inside the head. It's a tight fit as it is, so when the tips swell up, they break off. Some people are lucky enough to get them out by pulling the injector, but most times the head needs to come off to get at them.
As far as starting an engine with burned up GP's....get yourself a can of brake cleaner. Ether will work, but you have to know when enough is enough. You can ether lock that motor, burn holes in pistons, premature wear on piston rings, valves etc. Ether is a "dry" starting aid...******* things in that combustion chamber.
