It looks like part of an original muffler/exhaust hanger. I'll bet you found it hanging around underneath your truck.

It was hanging off the transmission mount, it is very heavy

Its called a "dampener" by the engineers (same ones that fell asleep after the better idea)
Supposed to be a isolator of sorts...
But rather became a rock grabber!

Ok I was wrong then. That's what I call a head banger because that's all I can see it being good for. Yes that is experience talking.
