My high idle switch has started to not always kick off. I could just get off highway and it'll still be engaged. Anyone have any ideas on a fix for this or should I source a used one from eBay?
WutCdd sells them, or you can connect a switch, or your sending unit by the fuel is bad...
He forgot the word "filter" after the word "fuel". A switch to cut off the constant power.Wut

to add to this, the next time you experience this, keep the truck running and see if the cold advance is still on, youll hear a change in engine if its charged. When the high idle switch fails, it'll fail in one of two ways. The electric part shorts out and it'll never work, or a groove has worn in on the shaft and it's getting stuck.
Grab a tiny wrench and rotate the shaft half a turn, see if it stops doing it.
If it's still staying engaged, then it's probably being electrically told to stay on, like bad coolant sensor or wiring shorted to hot.
I can unplug the cold advanced when it's running?to add to this, the next time you experience this, keep the truck running and see if the cold advance is still on, youll hear a change in engine if its charged.
or simply use a miltimeter and find out if its a case of a sticky solenoid, or a failed switch
Yes you can. Same with the fast idle. If you unplug the FSS it'll stall.I can unplug the cold advanced when it's running?
