    Suddenly no more headlights?

Clean the corrosion off the dimmer switch mounting bolts, anti-seize and sock it down. Mine did it constantly until I did this. Fixed it.

    Turbo install

First off, year of truck, and what kind of turbo are you installing? If it is an 088 or 085, things need to be aligned just right, in the right order, to go in smoothly.

    recommend headlight upgrade?

This is the system Garbage Mechanic was talking about, looks good, https://cpaddict.com/bricknose-australian-headlight-conversion-kit/ I had a set of the Auto Pal knock offs in my Cherokee. They worked really well for the price.

Does the CDR blowby need filtering?

Another option would be to put her back stock, and get the dryer vent hose out of there! Russ or Wes might have air cleaner housings lying around for the ATS/Ford turbos, or watch eBay. Someone is selling the top half of the filter housing today, but it's only half of whats needed. Apparently...

Does the CDR blowby need filtering?

Your Amazon link is who I bought mine from. Seller is "Hippodeals" 29.64 with a little bit for Olympia. Mine came in a couple days from them.

    recommend headlight upgrade?

Just played this game. I wanted to stay away from LED's at this point, as the cheaper ones technically aren't road legal. I went with a set of Hella H4's (which I guess are also not technically road legal, but not as blinding to oncoming traffic). Building your own harness is really easy, using...

    Bricknose wiper parking problem

Check your switch as well. There is a Park function (believe pin 63). I put an intermittent switch in mine, found this out through trial and error. Schematic, same switch... https://www.tomsbroncoparts.com/pages/schematics/bronco-schematics/body/66-77-early-ford-bronco-stock-wiper-switch-wiring/

Friend or shop near Index, Wa.

I'm in White Salmon, a buddy of mine who ran 6.9's for his tow service has the timing kit, and will let me steal it, as he doesn't see many IDI's any longer. Was going to do mine this spring. Maybe an mini Oilburners get together-timing party....

    Yet another cold start problem..

Installed a switch. 29 degrees this morning, cycled the glow plugs for 2-8 second cycles, and she popped right over.

    Yet another cold start problem..

Not much time since the turbo, 300 miles or so. EGT's have stayed conservative, never above 750-800 degrees. All the glow plugs are brand new out of the package last week. I will put the Fluke meter on each individual connector, and verify a good fit on the spade.

    Yet another cold start problem..

4 gauge cable, still struggling. I think it is time to Ohm out the harness, if that's ok, then I'll rig a button. I'm still kind of baffled why it fired pre-turbo, but is pissy post-turbo.

    Yet another cold start problem..

I'm thinking that little wire is squealing a bit when I glow my plugs. I'll replace it tomorrow! Cold isn't very cold, yet. 40-50 degrees. Real Cold will be coming soon.

    Yet another cold start problem..

I'm thinking about wiring a push button at this point. Hind sight being what it is, I'm an idiot, as I pulled an updated system out of a junkyard truck this summer, and chucked it in the shed, forgetting about it. Remembered that this morning, but I already purchased and installed the ZD1-a's...

    Yet another cold start problem..

So, the ugly truck is being stubborn starting. 86 6.9. Plugged in, it fires fine. Sitting in cooler weather, prolonged cranking. When she finally catches, lots of white smoke. I recently installed an ATS 085 turbo, new returns and caps, replaced the Autolight glow plugs of death with new...

The problem with new brake shoes and the parking brake.

I installed a set of Bosch shoes this days off, and seem to function flawlessly. But, I wish I had seen this post a couple days back for comparison! Even though they are marketed and boxed by Bosch, they were made in China. New wheel cylinders, spring set and adjusters and no more lock up, and...

    speedometer still not working

I just installed (yesterday) the drive gear bigboymx sells on ebay for the BW 1345. After 18 years, I have a functioning speedometer. What a concept! Part was well put together, works great.

    Sound deadening Questions.

I'm in the same boat with my '86. I installed a turbo and 4 inch exhaust with a resonator, and while the engine sounds great, not much of a fan of it on long drives. The issue I found with these trucks is the complete lack of insulation or sound deadening on the sheet metal, which results in...

    Tire choice help...

My son put a set of Nitto Terra Grappler AT on his 99 Powerstroke, and swore by them. Good aggressive tread. We get lots of rain and snow and mountain roads, and so far, he is pleased. I just put a set on my 86, and was amazed how quiet and smooth riding they were, they look like they should...

    Tools and Spare Parts

Great question. I'll be interested to see what spares the more experienced IDI driver's carry. As for tools, you always need the one that is not in your tool bag! I generally have a cheap test light, fuses, set of combination wrenches, mulit screwdriver, nippers, the good old Craftsman socket/...

    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

Moot point. Damn thing died. Think my lift pump croaked. Address that and then the oil leak. Doesn't drip on the driveway if she doesn't run! Agreed, probably just the volume of oil and the flange going through the grommet isn't very deep. I'll glue her in good and hope that fixes it. I do like...

    Oil leak - Valley Pan?

Looks like my truck. I just finished installing an ATS turbo in my 6.9. All went well until I started driving on the highway for prolonged periods, at higher revs, as I still have a T19. Very annoying, as the motor is spotless, except under the starter. I'm starting to think I'll call her the...
