Could be a couple different things or a combination of them.
CPS is a good start, also check the wires going to it and also the wires going into the cylinder heads for chaffing, melted or cut wiring.

Ahaha are you bumper pulling that? I do it all the time to move my gooseneck empty. Frowned upon but as long as your tongue weight is correct and the trailer is level it's also legal.
Have you checked the glow plug controller with a voltmeter? I've seen new ones be bad right out of the box. Is it a motorcraft unit?

If I were to do it again, I'd go with the super duty leaf springs and if money wasn't an issue then 2005+ coil sprung axle is what I'd use.
Would 2+ish inches of lift be a deal breaker? Rsk's are supposed to ride better and are easier to mount than oem 4wd brackets...
