After my initial passenger side motor mount mockup i made another that incorporates the ac pump. Now i will also use this mount to handle the throttle assembly. Its kind of an all in one bracket. Still mostly tacked together will remove and fully weld when i am really happy with it.
I have a...
Yea it stopped raining for a couple days!!
Working on passenger side motor mount / AC pump.
This is mock up. To help position the AC pump. I am using the stock Jeep AC bracket because jeep used at least 3 different a/c pumps in the XJ but all bolted to the same place on the block...
Yea. Im Getting excited. Almost finished my cnc plasma cutter. This sheet metal stuff will cutter like butter! Right now it is time consuming on the CNC. Next I need to find a nice brake. Just wait till you see the oil pan builds.

Started on frame perches. Developing a bikt in set of motor mounts
Gussets have been added. I will get pictures of the fully welded frame perches soon. These were just mock up and tacked together
I havent posted yet about it but decided not to broach. The wall thickness on one section is pretty small and going bigger i think would cause problems in the long run. I am just going to make a custom key
Thanks
Ken
Ok time for an update.
So I decided I needed to figure out my accessories before proceeding with my motor mounts. The power steering pump and oem motor mount perch were going to try to occupy the same space as I mention in my last update. I had hinted that the power steering pump assembly would...
Quickly reclocked the compressor housing tonight and took some more pictures.
Currently the motor is sagging about 3 inches.
Just documentation pictures of clearances.
Passenger side looking down on the axle.
Driver side looking down on axle
From the front ,steering in the way, motor...
Big steps yesterday.
4.0l got yanked.
Pulled the reefer pan and temporarily installed a bobcat pan and installed the transmission adapter. Didnt get a picture of bobcat pan.
Dropped the kubota in and got it bolted to the trans.
I didnt install the flywheel / clutch because it will be...
Got a couple more hours in last night. Everything is unbolted. Just need to support the trans and rip the 4.0l out. I am going to get the kubota in the air and pull the reefer pan. Going to swap it with a bobcat pan temporarily, so it is closed up. Thenb I can proceed place the motor, build...
And so it begins. Started disassembling between storms.
Just need bellhousing and exhaust.spent a majority of the time labeling wires etc.
Pulled the radiator and could help grab the intercooler and set it in.
Thanks,
Ken
Well about a week ago i measured my stock crank and water pump pullies but apparently never post it. I have a tier 2 and a tier 4 motor sitting here.
The tier 2 motor had a 1.14:1 ratio wp/c
The tier 4 motor has a 1.17:1 ratio wp/c
I am will be making a 1.148 ratio putting my waterpump pulley...
Not planning on it. I will send the harmonic balancer out but but everything else is neutral blanaced. The harmonic balancer is the only piece I am modifying and it is neutral balanced originally.
Thanks
Ken
Started to modify the toyota 4.0l harmonic balancer.
I have a broach on order to open up the key.
Before
Bringing the thickness down close to the kubota hub thickness. It will fit the tier 4 motor nicely but the tier 2 motor looks like it may need a small spacer. Approx 1/4 inch so it doesnt...
I am still on the 4.0l, still gathering parts. Just finished the next run of jeep adapters yesterday. Still need to run the crank adapters.
Trying to document before and after
Took the 92 manual for its smog check and stopped by the scale.3700 lbs. 1/2 tank,200lbs of Me, and about 50lbs in random parts.
Passed its smog. Now can transfer title.
I have driven it a little over 1k miles and averaging about 18mpg. I did not keep a extremely accurate record so this is...
To remove the crankshaft pulley you need a very deep 46mm socket. Well i dont have one. So i made one..
Counterbored so the splined section will help keep the socket straight whenbyou apply the 120 ft lbs to remove
That was a yesterday project.
I am pretty happy with the motor. And yes...
Ordered up a harmonic balancer for a 1gr-fe. 4.0l toyota v6. Fits the kubota crank shaft 31.01mm. I will use this to base my pulley setup off of.
Will also make a alternator pulley that measures 2.45 od to have 95% charging amperage at 1900 (90 amp) and at idle 850 rpm should yield 75 amps...
2014 v2203 with 2 hours on the clock for the manual trans!!
Turbo adapter v2403t manifold to Audi A6 k03-017 turbo
Once I finish the manifold flip kit this will be the approximate location of the turbo. Nicely tucked under the mastercylinder.
Thanks
Ken
I have "heard" that with the right paperwork you can walk into dmv and ask them to verify it is a diesel without going to the ref. Now this will only work for 97 and older. I am going to try this but my vehicles are regestered in a non smog county anyways. The 92 4x4 is heading to chicago...
Turbo along with gaskets and rebuild kit arrived yesterday
K03-017 from an Audi A6

Other then a governor spring for higher rpm and changing the timing these motors do very well turbocharged. The motors are holding 30 psi without any failures to speak of really, other then operator error.
Only a few have been on a dyno but then ones that have, have seen 95hp/290tq at the...
I have not forgotten about you!!
Project update:
When I take on a project like this I like having everything planned out as best I can.
I have spent probably 10 hours with a tape measure climbing around Guinea One taking lots of measurements.
Making sure things will fit. I am sure you all...
Long time reader here first time really posting here.
Last weekend I picked up A 1992 Jeep Cherokee XJ that I will be using to develop a complete Swap kit for a 1984 - 2001.
Guinea One is an 4.0 / automatic 4 door 4wd - so once complete, the kit should work for any JK drivetrain combo...
