    How hot is too hot?

The overheat light always kicked on at 242 degrees while towing over the Eisenhower tunnel with the some off name thermostat I used during the engine rebuild. An actual motorcraft thermostat fixed all my issues. Since I have installed a intercooler heat exchanger I have seen temps creep up to...

    6.9 vs 7.3 Injection Lines

I had a broken 6.9 and 7.3 #8 line laying around and comparing the two, the 6.9 is longer then the 7.3 but no difference in ID from both. I cut the flares off and confirmed with a dial caliper. Now I need to figure out what lines on my engine are short and long because I mixed the lines up to...

    6.9 vs 7.3 Injection Lines

This would prove the theory that the 6.9 line would have a smaller diameter, and achieving the injector pop pressure sooner but who knows. How were you able to test timing on a different cylinder other then #1 with a timing meter? I suspect that my #6 line is different then all the rest and...

    Yet another cold start problem..

Ive noticed this myself as well. I am starting to believe that the turbo is an air choke and it's not getting enough air for the first few compression cycles. I am going to start by cleaning the air filter and see if that does anything.

I've had my finger between there and the advance cylinder to see if it was the weep hole. It was dry there and diesel continued to drip on the bottom. Sometimes I see the Allan head closest to the injector lines dripping diesel directly off it.

Got a leak underneath the IP and its become worse since the long road trip, and it appears to be coming from one of these two screws inside the red circle in the picture below. Do either one of these have an oring underneath? I want to take the IP out and investigate some more once I get free...

Just pulled the Eisenhower grade at about 12.5k gross on Saturday. This is the 4th time I have pulled this hill with my idi and all I can say is I am now happy. The water to air intercooler and a better high flowing rotary vane fuel pump had improved the power and EGTs. I held 60mph in 4th gear...

    Intercooler heavy duty testing run.

It appears to be the type 118 from froozenboost.com. It measures 26x7x2" Same one I have and it works well.

    Intercooler

I went with a water to air set-up kit, purchased all through froozen boost. Included all the hoses and fittings, 400$ shipped to my door 2 days later. I got the type 118 heat exchanger for the best fit behind the bumper and front grill. Quality seems okay and been happy with it so far. Here are...

Yes, very! As I grow older though I have thought about starting over and do something a little more simple and start exploring and give up rock crawling and breaking stuff. Maybe an XJ with a TDI so I can daily drive it and get 30mpg! Here is one of my favorites, hells gate in moab! Got my...

Just did some mock up today so I know what kind of materials I will need from the metal distributor. To hold the radiator, I think I will run a piece of angle between the frame rail and on the two bolts that connects the front trim between the bumper and grill and it will house as shown in this...

Wanted to start off today's post that I now have a properly working drivers side window, it has been stuck for about 6 months and finally replaced the motor. 32$ on amazon prime, works great, happy happy. Finished up the fuel system on Sunday morning. Converted the injection pump inlet fittings...

Ordered the DIY water to air intercooler kit, rated for "600" horsepower. The cooler core is 10"x4.5"x4.5" and is recommended for 700 CFM. Very fast shipping, was here 48 hours after purchase. I was attracted to the simplicity of this system with minimal piping, less volume for boost to fill...

Those are all some good ideas! I should have looked for a 38 gallon tank before starting this fuel system. But for now I am just going to keep it simple and easy! Fuel out and in on the front tank, and a transfer from back to front! I got everything mounted up for the most part but made a...

Well it snowed outside so had some time in the garage today. Removed two bolts and a strap, a wire connector, vent line, and the fuel to and from FSV disconnected and the front fuel tank was pretty easy to remove. Discovered that the brand new one year old dorman shower head already failed. The...

I will prolly use this Mr. Gasket that I have laying around to transfer. Should work well! Next weekend I will begin the plumbing and wiring, this weekend and last I have just been too busy. When I did my oil pressure sender mod I noticed that there was variable resistor on the back of the...

Yeah that is the plan and will probably be the main highlight of this thread! Looking into possibly doing water to air. When I did my new starter and cables last January, I moved the driver side battery and tray just behind the passenger side battery. I now have a nice open area for the system...

To start things off, I am currently focusing on the fuel system. The plan is to install a sump on the front tank into a rotary pump, into a fuel regulator, filter and lastly the check valve. The goal is to be free of air intrusions and fully primed at all times, while on a budget so ebay for the...

Hello all, After owning the truck for about 3 years, I have decided to start a thread posting pictures of all the work I will be doing to it soon and have future ideas and plans that would bring some good content to the forums. I bought the truck for the purpose of towing my jeep shown on my...

New Tach Sensor, RPM gauge showing inaccuracy

Background story- had a bad tach sensor for a couple years and the rpm gauge never worked. So finally got around to buying a new expensive tach sensor, RPM gauge now works shows idle speed, around 750-800 and goes through the rpm range while shifting through the gears. Yesterday I drove and was...

    DB2 Tuning Guide

I agree with you, and I don't have enough fuel to overspeed the stage 1 (upward to 65lb/min) and I think it takes 120cc of fuel to get there and no where near to that with a stock IP. I worry I will have too much cyclinder pressure having no studs, certainly don't want to blow the gaskets and...
