The batteries are group 31. I had them tested at the parts store and they said they passed. They didn't disconnect the batteries from each other though, and I thought they were supposed to?
Guess I'll take them out of the truck and have them tested individually. Of course they are 1 month...
How long should I be able to crank before the batteries won't turn the engine over?
Truck has two 900cca batteries, both one year old. Starter new last winter. All new battery cables. Lately I crank for 10 seconds and after that the engine barely turns over. Usually it's below freezing...
My truck has always started hard when cold (below freezing). It takes 2 to 3 cycles of the plugs if it starts at all. Plugged in for a couple hours it pops off as fast as I can turn the key.
I have all new glow plugs, and have verified that they work. The truck turns over very fast. I have...
Well folks after owning my truck for a year I decided to finally test the compression. Here's what I found
Drivers side front to back:
390
445
425
445
Passenger front to back:
435
435
410
435
Seems good to me, but the 390 kind of bothers me. Anyone think it's a problem? I...
Update
I actually had some time to look at the truck, and found out that if I disconnect the silver box behind the drivers kick panel in the cab, my drain goes away.
Is this the pcm? Am I to assume it has a short in it?
Any input appreciated
I still haven't gotten anywhere solving this. I've just been disconnecting the black/orange wire from the solenoid at night.
I disconnected the large plug at the firewall with all the cab wiring, and the drain did not go away. I disconnected the glow plug solenoid, and no change. I...
I tried unplugging the regulator, and saw no change in the draw. I have just been using a test light to run the test. I guess I could do it with my multimeter, but will it make any difference?
Unfortunately, I won't be able to work on it again until this weekend, work is crazy right now...
Lately if I leave the truck sit for more than a day and try to start it my batteries are dead. Tried a parasitic drain test and found that if I remove the large black and orange wire from the solenoid on the passenger fender, the drain goes away. This wire goes to the alternator, so I...
The frame and bumper of mine is 2x3 1/8" wall tubing. The bracing for the deck is 1/4" thick angle iron. The bed frame is welded to some heavy c channel that is bolted to the frame.
The length of the bed is 8.5', and I made it match the width of the cab. I decided to go with wood because...
I haven't had a chance to do much work on the truck lately. Too busy I guess. With winter creeping up on me, I'd like to work out a couple bugs before I start driving it every day. My biggest concern is the taillights. Anyone have any idea how to wire these? I thought I had them working, but...
Found this on line, and was wondering if I could make a jumper at the plug I removed from the selector valve?
http://jrohlf.web.cern.ch/jrohlf/fuel_tank_selector.pdf
I only have a front tank, so I bypassed my tank selector valve and removed it. Now my fuel gauge is pinned at full. Any way to remedy this without putting the valve back in?
Thanks. The boxes are 4' long. They are weatherguard packrat boxes, and I'm told they are pretty pricey. The mudflaps i might paint black, I'm going to wait awhile and see if they grow on me first.
Got the last board on the deck, put some mudflaps on, and mounted my toolboxes. Woohoo free toolboxes;Sweet
Still not sure how I feel about the mudflaps. I think the diamond plate looks kind of out of place. I'm liking the toolboxes though. They hold a ton, and it rained all...
