Fuel Filter clogging in cold weather

Since I have a relocated LP (thanks Vulcan Welding) and 1/2" lines and a second, 10 micron filter, do I need to worry about the second, unheated, filter clogging with wax? We dont get much cold weather here in Texas but a cold front can blow through and dip us into the teens. Do I need to...

Change the pressure regulator (bypass) valve on the VP-44. Mine was doing crazy things and a new regulator made it normal again.

    Question RE: 6 litre PSD

I heard a rumor on the Ford site that Ford has announced that the 6.0 is being discontinued. #1, Is this true? #2, If so, why? #3, If so, what will they replace it with? I hate rumors and hope that someone here will know the truth.

    Transmission Slack

My 01 4wd does that too, seems to be a common question. Most common cause is just slop in the driveline, transmission, transfercase. A real problem is a possibility, worn ring/pinon, worn splines between the 5 sp and the transfer case. My guess is that it is just normal slop, they all...

    High Cost of Diesel Fuel

I missed that news byte. One pipeline is still far short of what they are (were) capable of producing. Probably only a fraction of what it should be but atleast they are shipping some.

    High Cost of Diesel Fuel

Beg to differ with you but... Oil is sold on the open market worldwide, as supply goes DOWN prices go UP on the open market, even though we dont buy Iraqi oil WE pay the higher price due to reduced supply. It's called a global economy. If it can be determined that I am correct, Iraq is not...

    Vw Tdi

We are considering buying a VW TDI. We would appreciate any comments, problems or other things you think we should be aware of. We would only buy manual shift models, probably a 4 door station wagon type. Comments? TIA

The last I heard was Iraq was not pumping a drop of crude, I would like to know for sure if they are pumping or if not.

    High Cost of Diesel Fuel

One thing to consider here is the effect of W's invasion of Iraq. Iraq has the 2nd largest oil reserves in the world. Iraq hasnt flowed a drop of crude since Mr Bush invaded and destroyed the Iraqui Infrastructure two years ago. Mr Bush and Mr Cheny are oil men, period. Since Iraqui stopped...

    High Cost of Diesel Fuel

The current gouging of the American People wont end untill we elect a new dictator. The current Administration is completely in bed with the oil industry. Fuel prices have risen steadly since Mr Bush's election and I think will stay as high or go higher. When you have a President that...

    Oil change intervals

Delvac and Stratapore every 5k miles. ALL of the 1 million mile Rams used OEM filters and dino oil and regular oil change intervals , even though I am a user of Royal Purple products (5600, transfer case, & both axles) I use Dino & 5k changes. If the Cummins can go a million miles on...

For fun we remove the steering box

Sooner or later, given the long seervice life of the engine you will be doing this. Sure beats buying a new one. Biggest thing is the spanner wrench and a 18MM line wrench, it has a slot cut in it so you can get it over the PS lines. Wasnt nearly as bad as I thought it would be.

For fun we remove the steering box

With 165k miles the truck was starting to wander a bit. We pulled the gearbox and tightened the preload; pretty much left the over center as it was. Now drives tight as a new truck :) Took 2.5 hours and well worth the work. Sure beats buying a new gear box.

How many lift pumps have you gone through?

#1 went low PSI @65k, #2 is fine at 111kmiles. What puzzles me is why some owners replace them like air filters and others do just fine. I talked to one owner who had 250k miles on his original LP and VP44, his secret (according to him) was to add 2 cycle oil to the fuel at every fillup...

UPS v FedEx v Airborne Express

We live rural, FedEx has on several occasions said "customer not home" when we were home waiting on the package. We knew it was out for delievery because of online tracking. Fedex and DHL have both also simply skipped us for a day or two with no explination, "out for delievery" for 2 days in...

    Most Miles?

Hi all, I'm new here but had to weigh in and ask a question. My wife drives a 98 12V with 165k, no real record here but a question: I am thinking that at 8yrsold and 165k miles I need to pull the tranny (4500) and replace the pilot bearing and throwout bearing. Any thoughts? There any no...
