So what did you do with your truck today?

I finally got around to changing the fuel system a bit. Installed a relay off a key activated wire and got it all plumbed up. Only thing left is to pull the fuel line off the original lift pump and put a new piece of line in its place. Would like to remove and cap it off but on the vans it is a...

    Small gas engine additives

I have used the red label Staybil and I like Seafoam. I have not had engine problems since I started using it. But I also buy non ethanol gas also. It is not as good as the old leaded gas for long term storage however.

    Alt. Upgrades for 6.9/7.3?

I just crawled under to check my grounds yesterday and looked up at the lift pump access.....or lack of it. OMG. I will be installing the electric lift pump if and when the original lift pump goes out. Its 33 years old this year but only 44000 miles on it....lol. If I had a lift to work on maybe...

    IP question

Following this with great interest. I am going to be digging into mine soon. I cut a hatch in the floor of the Ambulance to access the fuel pickup. Starting at the tank and moving forward. Remote filter mount, new lines. I am wondering about the lift pump delete as mine is probably 32 years old...

It says HORTON on a couple of badges on it and it is on several decals and build specs sheets all over the rig.

    New 7.3 IDI Owner Here

I have the same ambulance, mine started flashing after I had it awhile and now it does not light at all. Still works to operate overdrive. Mine would start flashing randomly at idle or when I let off the pedal completely. At this same time my tachometer stopped working unless I push reset on the...

What does the fuel cooler look like and where is it mounted?

So what did you do with your truck today?

Got tired of the air leaking out of the braided lines I put on in order to use my TPMS system. Pulled the rear wheels off to attach them directly to the stems and hope they don't need air.....When I pulled the drivers side inner rim off, the drum was loose. So I pulled it right off and checked...

    Traveller Smurf (Cubey's '89 van)

Well the guy that did mine said there was, and mine worked just great for months until I turned on the back AC. ****, neither works good now.

    Traveller Smurf (Cubey's '89 van)

So I gather from this that there is a line out there that cuts off the rear AC.....Very good info. Since mine is an 92, please follow up on what works for you. Mine worked when I turned it on but I only had the front filled and it lost the ability to cool much. I don't know if the back leaked...

Chasing down smokiness and lack of power

Mine also has come and gone with how it runs. Lately it has been perfect. But 2 weeks back it ran poor for several days in a row. It felt like it was running on 7 cylinders. I have to add the correct amount of cetane booster to make it run right. I ran heavy Seafoam, some PS injector cleaner...

    Remote Turbo

Very good info Bear. I have an ambulance body so I have LOTS of space to mount things. I expect that the more boost the more fuel is required. Or so I have read. I already start smoking with no effort in mild grades. The longer the grade.....yeah. And mine is a 7.3. Right now it is running...

    Remote Turbo

Thanks for the replies. We are not talking about putting the turbo at the tailpipe. Just behind the engine in line with the exhaust I have a large open area. And access to areas to make a filter housing. And I am in the same boat as raydav, I only want a little help in the hills, even moderate...

    Actually not my idea.

    Remote Turbo

My remote mount idea is right in the current exhaust stream, the air to the intake will travel further.

    Remote Turbo

Yeah, I have been looking at those posts. I think it is easier to keep the exhaust down where it belongs and is and run the air supply lines up to the top. I have a compartment in the front right(right over the exhaust) of this ambulance that I could easily modify and bring in outside air thru a...

    Remote Turbo

So, as a mobile RV tech I work for some interesting people. A bunch of them are race guys of all types. Stock car and drag mainly. The other day a guy was discussing my IDI non turbo work truck(van) and mentioned that he has a remote mounted turbo in a truck that does not show when you pick up...

So what did you do with your truck today?

Must be the season. My brother got his new windshield broke today somewhere in upstate NY and my wife and I took a rock to her Rav4 yesterday and chipped it.
