Transmission Gearing vs Rear Differential Gearing Question

Original OE Starter Woes... getting tired

Whatever starter you choose must be able to spin the engine at minimum 500 rpms or it won't start. The engine cpu will not let fuel flow below 500 rpms - no start. A stock starter with clean wire connections/grounds is good. There are several items that cause no start; glow plugs, starter...

    Paint color

I work for the Paint Dept at Home Depot. We use a scanner to match colors. It works something like 95% of the time or it does NOT work. Then we wait about 4 days for a new one to be shipped to our store. It is a very good system for matching colors!

30 degree cold start (opinions wanted)

Check your battery. It must be in GOOD condition to turn the engine over at 500 rpms in 30 degree weather. Replace it if it does not keep a charge. Weak batteries are the number ONE cause of COLD no starts.

    7.3 idi problem

A weak battery will cause no-start problems. They must spin at 500 rpms to start. A weak battery will not spin the engine at 500 rpms.

    Locking Hubs: Seeking Reviews

I would lock in my hubs, on my 2004 F-350, when the rains came and keep them locked in if I didn't have to take a freeway somewhere. I also had Warns on my 1946 CJ-2A. There was almost nothing 1946 about it. I updates everything but not the Warn hubs. Never had a problem with any Warn hubs!

    Sudden loss of oil

When I had my diesel F-350 I would get on it hard every time I got on the freeway onramp. "Drive it like you stole it!" Diesel engines DO NOT like to be babied.

3.55 gears vs 4.10s with gear vendors

Yes, to get heavy loads going from a stop. I owned a Kenworth C-500 with a Detroit Diesel 8-V92 and a 13 speed tranny. Under a heavy load I would start in first gear and shift three times getting through an intersection. Under no load I would start in 4th gear and get through the intersection...

Anybody know what the resistance for the cold advance solenoid should be?

So what did you do with your truck today?

I had a '65 Chevelle SS in High School. Nice car and the only power anything it had was under the hood. I drove it to Univ of Aridzona in Tucson. Oh and no A/C!. I got into street racing and sold it for a 1970 GTO 4 speed, Dark Green and no A/C! Stupid kids - speed is more desirable than...
