    I would suspect several others have made the same assumption about the feed pump not doing its job. I think there are a couple of reasons for thinking this; You cannot see the results of the feed-pump-to-the-injection- pump. If you have the pressure at the feed-pump, then it is doing its job...

    The posts getting warm/hot is from resistance at the post connections. Clean then real good! It is the little stuff like this that causes or contributes to bad starts!

    Also check the other end of each cable. They can be corroded there.

    My 1992 F-350 was not Keyed and I put it together out of phase and it SHOOKED until I got it phased.

    Please mark the position of the slip joint so you can put it back the same way it came out. If you get the driveshaft out of phase it will shake.

    Is it spinning slowly?? You need to have good batteries to enable it to spin at 500 rpms. Bad batteries are the No. 1 problem with No Start!!

    If the engine is running, I would say "yes". If it is not running, you have to replace the batteries.

    Loctite, along, will do the job of securing the nut. This is what Locktite is for. They make two kinds; perminate and removable.

    Your water leak could be from one of the freeze plugs, on each side. They can get corroded and leak.

    Lower oil pressure means less restrictions and more flow. Dirty oil filter could cause an increase in pressure and changing it will lower the pressure.

    Try jumping the Starter Solenoid and see what that gets you. Jump the two large connectors and it should run the Starter Motor.

    I believe there is an RPM limiter on ALL diesel engines. I used to hit the limiter on my DD 8-V92 a lot. I know the 6.0 had a limiter as did the 7.3.
